STANDBY FOR TWO MAJOR FIRES IN MINERSVILLE
On April 24, 2010 Forestville and South Cass were on standby for the town of Minersville as Minersville Fire Department battled a major structure fire on Front and Sunbury St. Engine 267 and Engine 268 look good together.
Fire, explosions rock Big Diamond Raceway
On April 23, 2010 we were called to assist Forestville on a reported structure fire at the Big Diamond Raceway at about 7 p.m. Friday. A small fire near a fuel storage building quickly turned into a raging inferno.
SUV burns on Route 901 in Foster Township
FOSTER TOWNSHIP, (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY) PA: On April 19, 2010 at 14:40 hours, the Minersville Ambulance, Mount Pleasant-Foster Township, Cass Township-South Cass and Heckschersville Fire Companies were dispatched to a motor vehicle fire on Sunbury Road-Route 901 in Foster Township. The phone caller reported the fire was near the entrance of Interstate 81.
The Ambulance 52, Engine 268 and Engine 353 arrived on scene and found a SUV off the roadway and fully involved. Engine 268 then request for Branch Township Tanker 3-30 to respond to the scene for additional water. The Cass Township fire fighters provided hazard and traffic control during the incident. The fire fighters remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed by a tow truck.

The Ambulance 52, Engine 268 and Engine 353 arrived on scene and found a SUV off the roadway and fully involved. Kitchen fire injures one and damages home in Cass Township.
On April 9, 2010 at 15:10 hours the Cass Township Fire Department (Heckschersville-Clover, Forestville, and South Cass Fire Companies), Minersville Fire Department (Minersville Fire Rescue, New Minersville and Mountaineer Fire Companies) and Minersville EMS were dispatched to 16 Ash Road in Cass Township for a possible house fire. The 911 center received multiple calls of a working fire and then dispatched Branch Township Fire Department (Llewellyn and Phoenix Park Fire Companies) to the scene.
The police arrived in minutes and found smoke and flames coming from the first floor of the home. The fire continued to spread quickly and began to move to the second floor and the roof. Minersville Ladder 519, Mountaineer Engine 521, and New Minersville Engine 533 arrived on scene first and found a working fire. Forestville Engine 267 established a water supply from a hydrant and supplied Minersville Engine 528. South Cass Engine 268 established a water supply from Engine 528 and then supplied Ladder 519. Ladder 519 then supplied Engine 521 water. Engine 521 and Ladder 519 then made an offensive attack to stop the fire. Minersville Rescue 518 and engine companies from Branch Township and Cass Township staged on the roadway a mile away from the scene.
The additional manpower backed up the attack crew and entered the residence and stopped the spreading fire. Fire fighters had heavy fire conditions in the kitchen and request to have the home’s roof opened up. Ladder 519 staged on the B-A side of the home and sent its ladder and crew to the roof of the residence to do ventilation. The Clover Engine 263 and Llewellyn Engine 3-10 responded to the scene and their crews assist in fire attack operations.
The smoke and fire conditions in the home decreased and the crews had the fire knocked down in the home. The aggressive attack on the fire had it stop and under control quickly. The fire was under controlled in a hour and all hot spots were out with no rekindles. A female resident was injured an transported to a local hospital by Minersville EMS and Pottsville ALS. The fire chief reported that there were no serious injuries to fire fighters and the home received moderate damage. The fire started in the kitchen and was caused by cooking.

Driver rescued from an overturned dump truck near Minersville.
CASS TOWNSHIP (SCHUYLKILL COUNTY), PA: On October 12, 2010 at 13:00 hours the Cass Township South-Cass Fire Company, Minersville Ambulance and Pottsville ALS were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident out side Minersville on Route 901 in Cass Township. A second phone call to the 911 Center reported the accident was at the bad curve and involved a dump truck. The caller reported that the driver was hurt and laying on top of his vehicle. The dispatcher then dispatched the Pottsville City Yorkville Rescue 63 to assist the Minersville Ambulance crew.
The Engine 268 and Ambulance 52 arrived on scene and found the driver on top of his overturned dump truck. The driver was hurt and needed to be extricated from the top of the truck. The Minersville Ambulance crew treated the driver and placed in stokes basket. The driver was then removed from the truck by fire fighters from Rescue 63. Minersville and Foster Township fighters assisted the Cass Township firefighters with accident scene traffic control.
Fire fighters from Rescue 63 contained and stopped the fluid leak from the truck. South Cass Engine 268 remained on the scene until the damage truck was towed from the scene. Minersville Ambulance and Pottsville Medics transported the driver to a local heliport.
The driver was flown to a local trauma hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
